Why do species change over time and should humans intervene?
Both the living and non-living parts of our planet are changing due to human activities. One consequence of these changes is the decline in populations threatening species with extinction. We have technologies that could help some species survive. But should we intervene in the process of natural selection? Why or why not? Participate in a think tank discussion to develop your ideas and then write a letter to a local organization arguing your position.
Adapt or Die?
An example from the Galapagos Islands explores current climate change and the biological response.
Consider This
Of course we do not want to see polar bears, tigers, or rhinoceros go extinct, but maybe it's not all bad.
Project Brainstorm
Explore threatened species. Which ones look interesting to you?
Project Organizer
The project has two parts: the think tank is a group project; the letter is an individual project.
If you have a diagram/chart/image with supporting evidence upload it in a file to google classroom. You can project it during the Think Tank if you want.

Individual Project
What do you want your future on Earth to look like? what solutions do we need to look to? Use the information from your research to convince someone that your ideas are valid and supported by evidence. Write a letter to an organization stating your position, why it's important and what we can do to reach that goal.
